Blog for Digs ~ Childhood Bedrooms

Blog for Digs is a charity fundraiser for Dwell with Dignity, a non-profit group of interior designers and volunteers dedicated to creating inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.  Inspired by Claudia Clobes at Stonehouse Love, fifty plus bloggers have volunteered to participate by writing about their childhood bedrooms and the one decor item they wished they had.  See the schedule of bloggers here.

My Childhood Bedroom was...
a constant battle of the wits between my sister and I.  We shared a room for the majority of our growing up life and although it wasn't always fun then, it was definitely the coolest thing about my room.  We moved around a bit as kids, so this also meant we rented.  Renting makes it hard to make your room "yours" but my mom did her best to make sure we had the things we wanted most.  These things included bunk beds that we eventually turned into twin beds with age, something that played music, bookshelves and plenty of closet space for our clothes.  I remember our bedding being a floral print that looked something like this.

It was picked out by my mom because I don't really remember caring about that kind of stuff then.  I was more concerned with my things than the decor.  Now as I have become obsessed with rearranging and decorating, while inheriting my moms classic taste with a twist... I believe some of these rooms below would have been fantastically fun rooms for my sister and I to have shared.

And when we got to that age when all we wanted to do was split the room in half with duct tape and fight over who's side of the room would have the door... This type of room with a nice wall barrier would have been ideal. haha

I do believe the only item I remember ever wishing for in my room, which would have been difficult to do only because it's an item we would have had to remodel for, was a window seat.  Something a little like this...

As I am the last in my group... there is no one left to pass the torch.  So I will pass it on to you my dear readers and ask that you PLEASE consider donating, just click on the Dwell with Dignity icon and it will bring you straight to their donation page.  After all  it's for a heartwarming, feel at home cause!
