Make it Yourself Monday - Robot Toy Box

Now that I'm 21 weeks, I figured it was time to start cracking on the nursery plans.  It's been confirmed that we are still having a boy, so I have decided to decorate his room in robots.  My husband is kind of a nerd, which I adore about him and I think he may be more excited about this than anyone.. haha.  I don't want anything over the top just a simple room with a few robots to give it some character.  I have a quilt idea in mind that my overly crafty mother was more than happy to create for her grandson to be.  I would like to use dark furniture.. an ebony crib, a large but short 6 drawer ebony dresser for clothes and to double as a changing table.  Of course a child in a family of many teachers can't go without a book shelf too!  Colors that are included in the quilt, that I would like to dash randomly all over the room are white, gray, black and red.  I'd like to do this with some canvas art, also make my own mobile with similar stars that are on the quilt, I also found a multi gray, black and white striped rug since the room is done in tile.  Last but not least,  a nice cozy rocker to sit and snuggle with my little one during the wee hours of the night.  I figure little details will be added as all larger furniture starts being put into place but this is the general outline of the idea I've been carrying in my mind.  I will post an inspiration board for you this week, so you may have a better idea. During the gathering process of all these ideas, I came across this toy box... I think I need to make it, what a sweet addition it will be to my little mans room!
Just click the link below to get all the nitty gritty crafty details!  I think the only change I would make is to head down to Ikea for some funky feet and a handy handle that can take the place of a nose.  I'd also change the paint to coordinate with my color scheme by painting the whole box black leaving the robot white or maybe painting it a shade of gray!  What do you think..? Pretty cute, isn't it.
