Make It Yourself Monday - Ribbon & Button Wall Art

How was your weekend dear readers?  Mine consisted of plenty of work but also plenty of play!  During this play time I happened to purchase myself a new summer quilt for our bedroom..so exciting!  With new bed attire there is never just a simple wash and change of sheets...oooh no...at least not with me.  My little self starts going through boxes, rearranging furniture, washing walls, windows..you name it, I scrubbed it.
All in all I'm happy with the new sweet setting. You see, I had been sleeping with my side of the bed against the wall. I'm not sure if there are many of you that care about this much but if you're the wall side sleeper... you might have found yourself a secret hatred. Anywho, with recent time schedule changes and such, I am now awake before the hubby most days and crawling out to the foot of the bed just isn't cutting it! So within all my rearranging and color changing, I have found myself with a bare wall. I wanted something soft yet not too girly, something original but not too expensive and I think I may have found the perfect idea... check it out!

I envision six of them in rotating ribbon and button pattern placed prettily on my wall. Or perhaps rotating frames from one end of the wall to the other acting as a photo border?! Oh the fun I will be having this week.. here's how I'll get started.

Step 1: Print Templates onto 8.5×11 card stock (color of your choice). Using x-acto and cutting mat- cut print-out to size.

Step 2: For the ribbon swatches, use x-acto to cut two opposing sides of each diamond skipping every other row of diamonds. I also sliced the diamonds in alternating directions for more variety in texture.
For the button chart, find & mark center of circles, then poke holes using your needle, where button attaches.

Step 3: Slide ribbons into slots, and sew buttons into place. You may need to tape the underside of the charts to keep the ribbons and buttons from slipping.

Step 4: Remove the back of frame. Safely remove glass (discard glass or save for a future project) and other contents from frame. Insert your charts, and then replace original fillers that came with the frame, you may need use a piece of cardboard cut to size as extra filler. Replace back of frame.
